In four more sleeps Janelle and I are heading back to la belle France and our beautiful house. We’ll be there for two months and would welcome visitors!
On this trip we are travelling Cathay Premium Economy. I did this in May and thought it was fine.but I did get myself allocated seats opposite the bulkhead which gives massive legroom.
There is a one and a half hour stopover in Hong Kong , then a 12 hour flight to Paris ,arriving about 6 a m. The plane docks at terminal two , where there is a railway station from which the TGV to Avignon leaves at 8.30 a m. Very convenient.
There are a few things I thought I would mention in the blog which I hope you will find interesting and / or helpful.
Cook book. Caroline Conran has written the most wonderful book on the cooking of south west France . It’s called Sud de France – the food and cooking of Langedoc. It is published by Prospect Books. We can’t recommend it too highly. Every recipe we have tried has been a complete success.
Travel insurance. Recommended by Susan Kurosawa in The Australian , give Insure and Go a try next time you are planning a trip.
Aircraft lounges. If you don’t normally have access to airport private lounges when you travel , but would like to ,have a look at Priority Pass .com .For not a lot of money you can access nominated lounges and associated facilities ,such as showers. Makes good sense I think if you have a flight involving a long stopover.
Wine. We have sold out of our first shipment of wine from the south of France and have another shipment on the way, arriving early December. On this trip we will be looking at more French wines which Annelie has sourced for us and we will be going to the Italian countryside near Verona looking for the fabulous Amarone style wine — our absolute favourite .
Will blog further soon
